Laser measuring system automates positioning and rotation before grinding or painting with robot.

Needs

A stack of identical and aligned plates must be processed by e.g. a sanding robot.  This robot assumes that the stack of plates is aligned and that all the plates placed identically (both coordinate and angle) every time it is to sand the sides of the plates using a CAD-drawing.  As the stack of plates is placed manually it is a challenge for the production to secure proper position and the need for automatically turning and positioning the stack of plates arises.

Solution

In the solution a stack of plates are placed for further processing whereafter the system moves a laserscanner horizontally over the stack (image 1).  As all the plates are aligned vertically, the top plate represents the posistion for all plates in the stack. Measuring the top plate will therefore not only determine the total height of the stack, it will also determine the position for all plates in the stack.
